HoldMyHand ("the app", "we") is a two-part tool: a Chrome extension that runs on your computer, and a phone app that shows you what to do next. This page explains what information each part collects, why, and what happens to it.
The extension only ever runs while you have deliberately started a guidance session (clicked "Start guiding me"), and only on the one browser tab you started it on. While a session is active, it collects:
Password fields and payment-related fields (credit card number, CVC, etc.) are excluded entirely before anything is collected — they never leave your browser. That said, a full tab screenshot is a real, unfiltered picture of whatever is visibly on that page at that moment — please be mindful of what's on screen (e.g. other visible account details) while a guidance session is running, the same way you would before sharing your screen with another person.
Your mobile number, used only to sign you in and to associate your guidance sessions with your own account — nothing else is required to use the app. If you speak your task instead of typing it, that recording is transcribed to text and then discarded; the recording itself is not stored.
This information is sent to our own server and used to figure out what you should click or type next — that's the entire purpose of the app. To do that analysis, the page information and screenshot are sent to OpenAI, the AI provider we use, purely to answer "what's the next step for this task, given this screen?" — never used to train their models on our behalf, and never sold, shared, or used for advertising by us.
Session data (the task, each step's instruction, and its screenshot) is currently kept for as long as your account exists — there is no automatic deletion yet. You can ask us to delete your data at any time using the contact details below.
